🔱 Why is Navratri Celebrated?

Navratri, which translates to “nine nights,” is the festival dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine forms. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

The story presents that the demon king Mahishasura received a boon that no man or god could kill him. To stop Mahishasura’s reign of terror, the gods combined their power to create Maa Durga.

Maa Durga engaged in battle with Mahishasura for nine nights and ten days. Finally, on the tenth day she defeated him, which is a celebration called Vijayadashami (Dussehra).

Thus Navratri is a celebration of devotion, but also courage, truth, and righteousness.
