He started as a shy student, then became a fearless leader that brought about millions of Indians to realize their strength to fight with truth and non-violence.

Mahatma Gandhi inspired millions and his campaigns like the Champaran Satyagraha, Salt March, Quit India Movement and Non-Cooperation Movement showed an empire, like the British rule of India, could be challenged with simple unity and peaceful resistance.

One of the most remarkable is a moment that occurred during the Salt March in 1930. Instead of throwing rocks, Gandhi decided to amble with thousands of followers over a distance of 240 miles to make salt from sea water.
