Father’s Day isn’t just a date on the calendar — it’s a celebration of strength, sacrifice, and love that often goes unsaid. Today, I want to share something very personal. I want to share the story of my father — not just as a parent, but as the unwavering force who helped me believe in myself when life challenged me the most.
I live with muscular dystrophy. Every day brings its own battles. I cannot walk. I need help with many things. But through it all, my father has been my strength, my guide, and my hope. Where others saw weakness, he saw potential. Where I saw limits, he showed me possibilities.
He never made me feel incomplete — in fact, he made me feel extraordinary.
When I was unmarried, he used to say,
He found her. He made sure I had someone by my side who accepted me, loved me, and respected me. That’s the kind of father he is — always thinking of my happiness first.
But life has its way of testing even the strongest hearts.
20th June 2017 – The Nightmare
That day, my father met with a terrible accident. A brain stroke followed, and he was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad. He lay in the ICU, in a coma, motionless and unresponsive.
When I walked into the ICU and saw him — silent, cold, covered in wires — it felt like he had already left us.
For four days, our world stood still. The doctors had little hope. Everyone was crying. Everyone felt helpless.
Except me. I held on to faith.
The Kindness That Came Back
Just three days before the accident, on 17th June 2017, my father did something that showed his true heart. He personally distributed Shrikhand to every Gauri Vrat girl in our society — a sweet act of generosity, something he always believed in: “Give what you can, help where you can.”
Strangely, not a single girl ate the sweet that day. But when the accident happened just three days later, every one of those girls — and their families — began praying intensely for my father. Their fasts turned into prayers for his life. Such is the power of karma, prayer, and the love he had given to others.
23rd June 2017 – A Miracle on His Birthday
And then, on the morning of 23rd June 2017, something miraculous happened.
My father opened his eyes. He came out of coma. And that day — that exact day — was his birthday.
The doctors smiled, and one of them said something I’ll never forget: “Today is Ashokbhai’s second birth. Go bring a cake — let’s celebrate his second life on his original birthday.”
And so, right there, inside the ICU of Apollo Hospital, surrounded by beeping monitors and smiling nurses, we celebrated his birthday — not just as a reminder of his birth, but as a symbol of his rebirth.
It was the most emotional birthday of our lives. A moment of divine grace. A reminder that life, when lived with kindness, comes full circle.
A Message to Every Father and Every Son
That accident changed my life. I realized that we control nothing. But when we live with goodness in our hearts — when we give, pray, support, and love — the universe listens.
My father has always taught me this: “We have nothing to lose by being kind. But we have everything to gain by having faith.”
So today, this Father’s Day, I honor the man who gave me life — and then came back to live with me again.
To my father — my strength, my miracle, my hero — Happy Father’s Day. Thank you for loving me, fighting for me, and showing me what true greatness looks like.
